Commonly Asked Figure Skating Questions  -

Are judges influenced by the appearance of the skating outfit?

I have never known of a competition that the result of an event has been affected by a skating outfit unless the outfit malfunctions and prevents the skater from performing a winning performance.

An exception to the general rule is when a skater enters a showcase type of competitive event as the skating apparel is very much a part of the "program package".

The incorporation of the music, the choreography, and the costume are all part of the process of creating a mood or theme that is judged.
