How often do skaters change the music they skate to?

A musical change is necessary to reflect the skater's age and growth.  The musical tastes general change to reflect a child's change in personality from pre-school and enter elementary school and again as they enter high school.

Skating abilities change and skaters are expected to move up to more advanced event levels that often require longer programs as well as more technically demanding skills that include required footwork and/or spiral sequences. 

The
age and competitive level increases the expectation of sophistication and the skater's ability to display a variety of performance styles.
