Commonly Asked Figure Skating Questions  -

At what point should I consider acquiring a full membership in a local USFS club?

Plans to join a local USFS club should occur when your coach begins to prepare your child to perform the Pre-preliminary Moves In The Field and Pre-preliminary Free Skating tests.

There is a process in joining a club that can require the membership to be approved by the club’s board of directors. These meetings generally occur monthly, but because the timing of test sessions and board meetings, submit the membership application 8 weeks ahead of the test date.

Some clubs only require that the membership application and dues be received prior to the test or competition deadline.  But please remember that most clubs close the acceptance for test requests 3 weeks prior to the test session. Failure to be a member when the test request is submitted can result in the test request postponed until the next test session, or the addition of a non-Home club fee.
