Commonly Asked Figure Skating Questions  -

What happens if there is an equipment (boot or blade) malfunction in a test or competition?

On a test session, the skater may be moved to another warm-up group in order to allow them to make a repair. Failure to repair the problem effectively means the skaters must withdraw from the test session.

The test can be immediately rescheduled when the problem is corrected. It would be at the option of the club to issue a refund if the test was canceled due to an equipment problem or injury.

In a competition, the event referee is in charge and will allow a reasonable amount of time to correct the problem before disqualifying the skater. The host club would not issue a refund.
