|When should I encourage my child to enter local competitions?|
When your child begins to ask about passing badges and expresses a desire to enter a local competition, inquire with his/or group class instructor about possible competitions in your area.
Don't force your child into competing. Be sure there is a supportive environment provided by the coach and parents to properly prepares your child for their first solo performance.
There may be peer pressure from other skaters to enter, but young skaters who are shy may experience a negative experience unless they are prepared enough to develop their self-confidence.
