can I do to help my child become more confident during tests and
Serious skaters benefit from daily practice sessions in which they “run through” all of the elements in the MITF test and perform their free skating program to music. Ideally they would warm-upon one session and begin their run through immediately after the ice has been resurfaced to simulate the conditions of testing conditions.
Skaters must first develop their technical skills, followed by working to enhance their stamina and incorporating performance/artistic skills into their skating to provide the complete “package” expected by judges.
Skaters who are consistent in practice session and deliver performance levels well above the minimum expected to pass a test, naturally will have the self-confidence to perform well under test conditions.
Ask your coach to arrange a critique with a judge prior to submitting a test request to insure that skater becomes comfortable performing in front of judges.
