Commonly Asked Figure Skating Questions  -

At what point is age a concern if my child wants to compete?

The USFS has a variety of competition events for skaters of all ages -
  • Well Balanced Programs qualifying for national/world competitions
  • Test track competition for skaters whose age disqualifies them or they are not interested in entering the Well Balance Program track
  • Collegiate track for skaters enrolled full time in college
  • Adult competitions for skaters over 21
There are minimum and maximum age requirements for many events such as:
  • USFS Qualifying Competitions
    • Juvenile men and ladies events must be under fourteen prior to regional championships
    • Juvenile pair events must be under sixteen prior to regional championships
    • Juvenile Dance events must be under sixteen prior to regional championships
  • Adult competitions
  • Collegiate competitions
  • World Championships - the skaters must have achieved the age of 14 by a specific date
